Bangkok · Mechanical Servicing
My father's Omega Seamaster had been sitting in a drawer for about twelve years. I had no idea what state the movement was in. Prayuth did a full bench service and showed me the timing machine result at collection — it was running within plus four seconds per day. I was not expecting that.

I brought in a 1964 Longines with a damaged crown and a dial that had some water marks. Before anything happened, Prayuth walked me through what was reversible and what was not. He was very clear that the dial patina had value and suggested leaving it alone rather than refinishing. That kind of honesty is rare.

Bangkok · Battery & Seal Care
I have two Seikos I use for swimming. I got the battery and seal service on both. It took a bit longer than I expected on one of them — the gasket was a non-standard size — but they called me to explain and gave me an accurate time estimate. Both passed the pressure test. I'll come back when they're due again.

Expat, Bangkok · Mechanical Servicing
Finding a proper watchmaker in Bangkok was harder than it should have been. horologicafads is the real thing — Prayuth clearly knows his way around a mechanical movement. The written record they give you on collection is something I haven't encountered elsewhere in Asia. Small detail, but it tells you something about how they operate.

My grandmother's Bulova needed the crystal replaced and the movement serviced. Warin at the front desk was very thorough at noting the condition on arrival. The scope discussion took longer than I expected, but I appreciated that nothing started until I had signed off on the agreed price. The watch came back running well and looking much tidier.

Phuket · Battery & Seal Care
I was in Bangkok for two days and dropped in my dive watch on the first morning. It was ready the same afternoon — battery and gasket replaced, pressure test passed. The note they gave me actually listed the test result numerically. I kept it. Very straightforward, professional service.

Case Studies
Three watches, three different stories
Case Study 01 · Mechanical Servicing
A 1970s ETA movement, stopped for eleven years
The situation
The client's late uncle had left a Swiss dress watch in a bedside drawer. The mainspring had not been wound in over a decade. The movement was intact but there was visible dried lubricant at the escapement and signs of surface corrosion on the rotor.
What was done
Full bench service: disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, fresh lubrication throughout. The rotor pivot was polished. The mainspring was assessed — still serviceable — and re-installed. Regulated over two days to settle the amplitude.
The outcome
Returned within eleven working days running at minus two seconds per day average across six positions on the timing machine. The client said it was the first time the watch had been on their wrist in thirty years.
"I didn't think a watch that old could still run that well. The written record explained everything that was done."
Case Study 02 · Vintage Restoration
An inherited Tissot, mismatched parts, uncertain history
The situation
A Tissot from the early 1960s, acquired through an estate sale. The case back was incorrect — a later replacement. The hands appeared to be replacements from a different reference. The movement was running but losing around three minutes per day.
What was done
Scope discussion with the client first — options for the hands were explained with photographs of period-correct alternatives that were available. The client chose to retain the current hands and noted their known history in the documentation. Movement serviced and regulated. Case back left as found, noted in the record.
The outcome
Returned within three weeks with movement running at plus six seconds per day. The service record notes the known and uncertain aspects of the watch's provenance — something the client found genuinely useful for their own documentation of the piece.
"The fact that they documented the uncertainty, not just the work, made the record much more useful."
Case Study 03 · Battery & Seal Care
A daily diver, presumed watertight
The situation
A client brought in a daily-wear dive watch for a straightforward battery replacement. The watch was rated to 200m and used regularly in the pool. The case back had been opened at a mall battery service two years prior.
What was done
Battery and gasket replaced. On pressure testing, the watch did not hold to its rated depth — likely a result of the previous case back not being re-torqued correctly. The client was called before the watch was returned. The case back was re-seated and re-tested.
The outcome
Watch passed pressure test on the second attempt. The client appreciated being called rather than just receiving the watch back without any mention. Same-day turnaround was not possible but the watch was ready the following morning.
"If they hadn't tested it, I would have gone swimming with a watch that wasn't sealed. Worth the extra day, no question."
